摘要：A system for supporting an overall product design process including design ofmachining processes. Machined portion models, each including solid shape and/ormachining attribute data of a machined portion defined in the machined portion model,are prepared on a machining operation basis and stored in a library. The library is

provided as a standard machined portion library. A design engineer designates themachined portion models to be applied to a product model, which is a solid modeldisplayed on a CAD apparatus, and specifies application positions and applicationdirections thereof. Based on this designation, the CAD apparatus finds a product modelrepresenting a product shape formed after the machining operations, each

corresponding to the selected machined portion models are completed. By sequentiallyapplying the machined portion models to a blank material model of a blank material ofthe product, the product model is generated. Because the generated product modelcontains -D solid data and machining attribute data associated with each of the machinedportions, the resulting data is useful for designing machining processes.
