[Abstract]: Social competition is not only about knowledge and intelligence contest, but more of a will, life and psychological state’s competition.

Family education for children plays an important role in one’s life. Understand the child's heart, focus on the child's personality, cultivate children's curiosity and encourage them to try and establish a brave character ,these are the primary task of family education. Due to different historical traditions, social and cultural background, Chinese and Western education are different in many aspects and there are a lot we can learn from Western family.

Introduction

Influenced by different cultural traditions and , so the family education of thoese two sides also have a different attitude, which reflects in the relationship between family members.

1. Understanding what is the meaning of “parents” in Chinese family 1.1 The power of “parents”in China and Western

In our contemporary family education, parents always mean the authority, at the core of the family. In the eyes of parents, children always being a children, the parents of the child's teaching can last for a lifetime. In addition, as the Chinese saying goes, \" the older are always being a teacher,\" the older will be able to educate young persons, which formed a relationship of inequality within the family, the elderly are a symbol of authority. However, with the improvement of material living standards, many families go to the other extreme, the child is in a special position and the family give them too much protection. Obedience to the child and let them do whatever they like to do,which resulted in another family relations of inequality. In the American family, parents pay more attention to freedom and equality . Respect for the child from an early age, children learn to make their own decisions, independently solve various problems they encountered , the children should be respected and understanded. Children can freely express their opinions in front of their parents, say what they want to say, parents will give appropriate awards. Children have a indepentent time and

space to free the imagination or do creative activities 1.2 The trends of education between China and Western

Chinese Family education tend to focus on children in the future whether they can make great achievement, find a good job or not. Many parents believe that the parental responsibility for children is to let them live better, if you can give the child the most favorable living conditions,they are willing to do whatever they can. By contrast, American families’s opinion of child rearing are different, their focus is to cultivate children's ability to adapt to various environments and independent living. They attach great importance to the child's ability, considered that the child's growth must rely on his own ability, so from an early.their parents focus on the traning of independence and individual thinking,let child overcome differiculties in a tough environment so that his own strengthen can be developed .In this process,as child growing older,make it a citizen with great responsibility and a sense of devotion to the society.
