The Story of Hare and Tortoise
There once was a Hare and a Tortoise. Hare boasted about how fast he could run.
Tortoise was tired of Hare’s boasting. So he challenged Hare to a race. All the animals in the forest came to watch. No one thought Tortoise could win the race.
The race started. Hare ran down the road for a while and then stopped. He looked back at Tortoise and cried out, “How can you win this race when you are walking so slowly? Run faster! Hurry Up!”
Hare thought, “This is easy. I can run faster than Tortoise. There is plenty of time for a rest.” So he sat down by the side of the road and fell asleep in the sun.
Tortoise walked and walked. He walked past Hare and never stopped until he came to the finishing line.
The animals cheered so loudly for Tortoise that they woke up Hare. “Hurry Up!” they shouted.
Hare woke up. He began to run again, but it was too late. Tortoise was already over the line. Tortoise was the winner!
