Divided application [Class 74 (ii).] Pelerinestitch-forming instruments 20 are provided in a circular knitting-machine and arearranged in an annular bed 14, the whole or major part of which is disposed outside theneedle circle. The bed 14 is preferably supported from a carrier 15, detachably securedto the sinker ring 12, by spaced pillars 19 extending between the carrier and the bed. Thebed 14 is formed in two or more segments adjustably interconnected to permitadjustment in a circumferential direction. Alternatively the bed 14 may be supportedabove the sinker cover 13, ,Fig. 10, and may be driven by gearing 56, 57 from a gear ring58 secured to the sinker ring 12. In another form, the bed 14 is mounted above the sinkercover and is rigidly connected to the sinker ring. A needle depressing cam 43, Fig. 6, (notshown), additional to the usual stitch-cam system, may be provided at position at whichthe pelerine instruments are projected over the top of the needles. The instruments 20have butts 25 arranged at varying heights, and selectors 26, one to each height of butt,are provided for actuating the instruments 20. The selectors 26 are pivotably mounted,and are swung inwardly to actuate the instruments 20 by an abutment 28 carried by the

needle-cam box and adjustable by pattern means to bring it into register with any of theselectors 26.
