We are best friends

A new school year has begun. But when will I see Catherine again?

Catherine is my best friend. I met her in Grade 7. She has black hair and brown eyes, just like me. Many people think we are twins because we are always together.

In our first class together, we sat in the same row next to each other. We passed notes and whispers back and forth during class. It became our habit. Once, during a physics class, we talked so much that our teacher threatened to send us to the headmaster.

Catherine and I both like to read. We often went to the bookstore after school. We would sit there all day, until hunger made us stop and eat. In Grade 8, we only had math lessons together, but lunch still game us a chance to gossip and hang out.

But the next year brought problems to us. We had no classes together at all. It was hard to find a chance to get together. We were both busy. And sadly, we still are.

However, I still have Catherine in my heart and she still has me in hers. We plan to take to trip across the US together when we get our driver’s licenses. That thought,

for now, keeps us together, even though we are physically apart.
