The lasercutting device for inserting notches and recesses on a workpiece (24), comprises anelectronically controllable first robot (12) for moving a laser cutting head (22) to

predetermined reference positions in relation to the workpiece, a programmable controlunit (18) provided with a storage for controlling the first robot with respect to referenceposition coordinates present in the storage, and a device (26) correcting pitch betweenthe laser cutting head and the workpiece after the movement of the laser cutting head.The control unit is formed and programmed in such a manner that the control unitdetects position coordinates of the laser cutting head and a comparison of the positioncoordinates with the reference position coordinates is carried out after the correction ofthe laser cutting head, before a laser cutting process is carried out. An abort controlsignal is generated so that the cutting process interrupts when the difference between astored reference position coordinate and the detected position coordinate exceeds apredetermined tolerance value. A second robot is intended for positioning the workpieceand by which the workpiece is engaged and transferred to a working position for thelaser cutting process and then to a further position in the completion or the abort of thelaser cutting process. An independent claim is included for procedure for laser cutting ofa workpiece.
