2022-2023学年综合复习测试-高一上学期高中英语北师大版(2019)必修第一册 1. 阅读下面短文,在空白处填入1个适当的单词或括号内单词的正确形式。

Being disappointed is all about perspective. It took me a long time to realize this. I was under the impression that if someone did something I didn’t like, then I had the “right” to be disappointed. Of course the 1 (disappoint) always led to me having the “right” to be upset, depressed, or angry. After all, the situation didn’t turn out the way it 2 (suppose) to, or a particular person didn’t behave the way I 3 (believe) he or she should. Therefore, I was disappointed and felt let 4 . I never once thought it was just my attitude to the matter 5 caused my disappointment and that I could control this!

What I slowly began to realize through studying myself, as well as 6 (pay) attention to others around me, was that those 7 (thing) that would upset me, would not upset someone else. I also noticed that those things that appeared to be the biggest deal to someone else only 8 (make) me laugh. So what was going on? 9 (obvious), it couldn’t be the situation itself because that was the one constant thing in each equation. What did change was who was explaining the situation. That was 10 was different.

2. People hold different views on almost anything, mainly because of the culture we are familiar with or the education we have received. We live in a ____ world where people are quick to point out the faults and imperfections of others, yet seem unaware of their own. Some misguided souls believe they have a duty to help you to be a better person by telling you what a failure you really are first and then offering suggestions as to how you can improve.

So what is the possible solution to ____? If you are the one forcing others to feel ___ themselves, STOP. Make a conscious decision rather than ____ the negative aspect of a person’s performance or attitudes. You’ll offer helpful suggestions from the beginning. If I’m painting our living room and ____ in doing so, I would like my husband to say to me, “This is a tough job. Can I offer a

suggestion that might make it easier for you?” rather than have him point out what a ____ painter I am and then tell me how I should be doing it.

If you are on the ____ end of criticism, the “OK” response is a perfect solution. When someone

comments negatively on a task you are doing or a personality issue of yours, a(n) ____ response is to defend and attack. However, this approach is rarely effective as it puts both parties on the ____. Instead, simply reply with “OK”. This brief one-word response ____ the other person’s comment without agreeing with it or feeling necessary to engage in a debate about it.

It is important to remain emotionally attached to what the other person is saying, to listen without feeling, to be a(n) ____ observer. In fact, there is much that one can learn from a ____ review. You can ask yourself: Did I make a mistake? Could I have done better? Did I give 100% of myself to the task at hand? If so, how can I improve myself? As for chronic (习惯性的) criticizers: It is important to set strict boundary with them. Remove yourself from their ____ when necessary.

___, one can learn to be “OK” with criticism and not allow it to negatively impact your life or relationship with the other party. Examine it for any potential ____, and then let it go and just be “OK”. 1.

Sumer was tall and athletic. He spent most of his time running, swimming or riding bicycles. He was an extremely good player in every game. He was a member of the school's football team and cricket team. The PE teacher thought he would make it big in the game when he grew up. One day, the two friends went for a walk. Ranjan got tired soon.

“I have no strength. What is the use of all this knowledge? If I am not healthy? I would give away all my knowledge if I could be half as healthy and strong as you,\" said Ranjan.

Sumer was surprised and replied, “So you are not happy with yourself too? I always wished I could have done as well as you did in the studies. I even thought I could have given away my sporting skills for better grades in those exams. ”

5. Do dogs understand us? Be careful what you say around your dog. It might understand more than you think.

A border collie named Rico recognizes the names of about 200 objects, say researchers in Germany. The dog also appears to be able to learn new words as easily as a 3-year-old child. Its word learning skills are as good as those of parrot or chimpanzee(黑猩猩). In one experiment, the researchers took all 200 items that Rico is supposed to know and divided them into 20 groups of 10 objects. Then the owner told the dog to go and fetch one of the items and bring it back. In four tests, Rico got 37 out of 40 commands right. As the dog couldn't see anyone to get clues, the scientists believe Rico must understand the meanings of certain words. In another experiment, the scientists took one toy that Rico had never seen before and put it in a room with seven toys whose names the dog already knew. The owner then told Rico to fetch the object, using a word the dog had never heard before.

The correct object was chosen in seven out of 10 tests, suggesting that the dog had worked out the answer by process of elimination (排除法) month later, Rico remembered half of the new names, which is even more impressive. Rico is thought to be smarter than the average dog. For one thing, Rico is border collie, a breed (品种) known for its mental abilities. In addition, the 9-year-old dog has been trained to fetch toys by their names since the age of nine months. It's hard to know if all dogs understand at least some of the words we say. Even if they do, they can't talk back. Still it

wouldn't hurt to sweet-talk your dog every now and then. You might just get a big wet kiss in return!

A.The purpose of the experiments is to show the border collie's mental abilities. B.Rico has a better memory partly because of its proper early training. C.The border collie is world-famous for recognizing objects. D.Rico is born to understand its owner's commands. 4. What does the writer want to tell us?

B.To talk to your dog. D.To be careful with your dog.

6. Have you ever heard of Paynes Prairie? It is one of the most important natural and historical areas in Florida. Paynes Prairie is located near Gainesville. It is large, 21,000 acres. This protected land is called a preserve. The Florida Park Service manages the preserve.

The Paynes Prairie basin was formed when limestone dissolved and the ground settled. It is covered by marsh(沼泽)and wet prairie vegetation. There are areas of open water. During brief periods it has flooded enough to be considered a lake. Except for that, the basin has changed little through time. Man has lived on Paynes Prairie a very long time. He lived there as far back as 10,000 B. C. At one time, the Seminoles lived there. The prairie is thought to have been named after King Payne, a Seminole chief. During the late 1600s, the largest cattle ranch in Florida was on Paynes Prairie. Today, Paynes Prairie is preserved land. It is occupied by visitors and Florida Park Service employees.

Willam Bartram visited Paynes Praire. Bartram was the first person who portrayed (described) nature through personal experience as well as scientific observation. He lived 200 years ago. He visited Paynes Prairie in 1774. At that time he described it. He called Paynes Prairie the “great Alachua Savannah.”

Most of the animal life, which Bartram described, is still here. A large number of sandhill cranes, hawks and waterfowl are here in winter. The animal diversity is increased by the presence of pine flatwoods, hammock, swamps and ponds.

The Paynes Prairie Preserve State Park is open year round. The Florida Park Service works hard so that the park will appear as it did in the past. It offers many opportunities for recreation. At the park you can camp and picnic. You can hike and bike. You can boat and fish. You can ride on horse trails. And you can see lots of nature and wildlife. Feeling it was inconvenient to talk to a youngster, the boss asked, “Is your daddy home?” “Yes,” whispered the small voice.

1 To the surprise of the boss, the small voice whispered, “No.”

Wanting to talk with an adult, the boss asked, “Is your mommy there?” “Yes,” came the answer. “May I talk with her?”

2 Knowing that it was not likely that a young child would be left home alone, the boss decided he would just leave a message with the person who should be there watching over the child. “Is there any one there besides you?” the boss asked the child. 3 Wondering what a policeman would be doing at his employee’s home, the boss asked, “May I speak with the policeman?”

“No, he is busy,” whispered the child. 4 “Talking to Daddy and Mommy and the fireman,” came the whispered answer.

Growing concerned and even worried as he heard what sounded like a helicopter through the earpiece on the phone the boss asked, “What is that noise?” “A hello-copper,” answered the whispering voice. 5 In a low whispering voice the child answered, “The search team just landed the hello-copper!” Alarmed, concerned and more than just a little frustrated the boss asked, “The search team?! Why are they there?”

Still whispering, the young voice replied, “They are looking for me!”

A.“Busy doing what?” asked the boss. B.“May I talk with him?” the man asked.
