名词后缀（一）

1.-an：

electrician n.电工；电气技师

E.g. The electrician took the houselights down.

电工将剧场中观众席上的灯光减弱了一点。

physician n. [医]医师，内科医师

E.g. He prefers to be a surgeon rather than a physician.

他喜欢当外科医生而不愿作内科医生。

2.-ant,-ent：

E.g. The job applicant must have good verbal skills.

correspondent n.通信者

E.g. The newspaper has a foreign correspondent.

3.-ard：

coward n.懦夫，懦弱的人

E.g. She accused her husband of being a coward.

drunkardn.酒鬼，醉汉

employee n.雇员

E.g. The boss dismissed that employee.

老板解雇了那个雇员。

examinee n.应试者

E.g. It required that every examinee put down his/ her name on the answer sheet.

5.-eer：

pioneer n.开拓者，先锋

E.g. Li Dazhao was a pioneer of the Chinese revolution.

6.-er, -or：

manufacturer n.制造商

E.g. All the goods are labelled with the address of the manufacturer.

1.-ese：

Chin(a) + ese→Chinese n.中国人；汉语

E.g. Remember you are a Chinese wherever you go.

host+ ess→hostess n.女主人

3.-ian：
