Unit1 will people have robots

Hello, everyone. Today I’m very pleased to have an opportunity to talk about my teaching design. My topic is will people have robots . My lecture includes the flowing contents: Part 1 The analysis of the teaching material Part 2 The analysis of the learners Part 3 Teaching method Part 4 Teaching procedures Part 5 Teaching reflection

Part 1.The analysis of the teaching material

一.This unit mainly talk about the predictions of our future. As the beginning of this unit, this period of “welcome to the unit” playsa very important part in the English teaching of this unit. Through setting various activities, it will arouse the students’ interests and le-t them get a general understanding of this unit, which will be goo--d for the following studying.

二.According to the students’ English level and new standard of En-glish, the teaching objectives are as follows: 1. Knowledge and skills objectives:

(1)Encourage the students to practice their oral English and their listening comprehension.

(2)Let them know how to talk about the future and make predic-tions about the person or places and so on.

2. Process and method objectives:

The approaches of discussion and so on will be adopted in the teaching process of this lesson. Students are expected to be involve-d in the discussion, practice their oral English, and share their opinions with one another. Introduce a rich variety of activities and ap -proaches to meet different need of students. 3. Emotional and value objectives:

‘Interest is the best teacher’. This section will help the studen-ts to arouse their interests in learning and develop their imaginatio

-n.It will also help them to open up their minds and build their confidence by making predictions. 三.Key points:

Talk about kinds of predictions of peoples’ .Help the students toprepare for their discussion, making sure that they are carefully pre-pared before the lesson. 四. Difficult points:

How to describe the future and express their predictions fluentl -y.

Part 2 The analysis of the learners

Since the learners are students of Grade two, it is very importa-nt to help them to form a good habit of learning in class. The lear-ners are sensitive to new knowledge, eager to participate in activit-y and they are rich in imagination.

Part 3 Teaching method

1.Student-centered theory (学生中心论)

It is a teaching model that places the students in the center of the teaching process.

2.The theory of communicative competence(语言交际能力理论) It includes both the knowledge of the language and the knowled-ge of how to use the language in communicative situation.

3.The task-based teaching approach(任务型教学方法) The whole teaching process will be carried out by various learni-ng and listening tasks. During this process, the students will become the real masters of their learning and listening, while the teache-r acts as a director. In this way the learners will experience the knowledge and eventually acquire it.

Part 4 Teaching procedures

There are six parts in my procedure. (1) Lead-in

(2) Listening comprehension (3) Group work (4) Language study

(5) Summary (6) Homework

Step (1) Lead-in

In this section I organized two activities.

Activity 1, have a free chat with the students about their happy holidays to present the topic “predictions”. Do you enjoy your winter holiday? Do you want to live on the moon?

Can you guess what will happen in ten years?

Collect the students’ answers and say something about their predictions.

(This activity will arouse the students’interests and focus the-ir attention on our topic “predictions”.)

Activity 2, I will show students some pictures of robots, and I will ask them the questions as follows:

Do you have robots?

Will we have robots in 100 years?

How will the world be different in the future, 100 years from now? (This section will stimulate the students’ enthusiasm, further more it enables the students to improve their oral English.)

Step (2) Listening comprehension(1a &1b)

Activity 1, Ask the students to read the sentences in 1a, let them mark A (for agree) or D (for disagree) after the sentences.

Activity 2, Ask students to look at the sentences in 1b, let them listen carefully and circle the predictions they hear.

Check the answers.

(This section will arouse the students’divergent thinking and also help them improve their listening ability) Step (3) Group work (1c)

Put the students into groups of four to read the conversation in 1c. Ask students to make the similar conversations using the predications in 1a.

Get a pair from each group to say their conversation to the whole class.

(In this section the students are expected to be involved in the conversation, practice their spoken English, and develop their t-eamwork skills.)

Step (4) Language study

students will learn some useful phrases such as “in ten years(十年后),one day & some day(某一天)”. Step (5) Summary

At the end of the class I will spend a few minutes to summari-ze what have learned in this class. This stage will reinforce the lea-rning by helping students to refer back to the contents. It is also a time to create a sense of achievement for the class. Step (6) Homework

There are two tasks of the homework:

1. Ask the students to make and Write down the predictions about themselves in 10 years. (at least five sentences)

2. Ask the students to go over the new words and pre-read the passage.

Part 5 Teaching reflection

Teaching is a complicated process, which make it impossible for teacher to follow his scheduled plan in real class settings. Teaching reflection is a good way to teachers’development and success. My teaching reflection includes:

1. Language is the result of \"Acquisition\so the teachers shoul-d provide students with the opportunity to learn independently and fully develop themselves.

2. The designed activities must be related to the students’intere-sts, the contents and methods must meet the needs of students, or it will not arouse the interest of students, which can not complete t-he objectives.
