The paper is continuously fed from the feed roll through theseries of feed rollers and at least one spreader so that the paper is in proper orientationand is uniformly taut across its entire width to ensure that the paper has continuous flatsurface upon which the coating is to be applied. The paper is then fed between thecylindrical screen and the drum. The cylindrical squeegee lays within the cylindrical screenand 20 presses down upon the portion of the screen that is the nearest to the drum atany particular time in the screen's rotation, and that portion of the screen in turn bearsdown upon the drum. As the drum, cylindrical screen and the squeegee rotate duringoperation of the apparatus, the pump feeds a controlled amount of waterproofingchemical from the reservoir of waterproofing chemical into the interior of the screen 25to ensure that there is always sufficient waterproofing chemical available to ensure thatthe rotation of the screen and the action of the squeegee within it is able to apply auniform coating of waterproofing chemical that adequately coats the entire surface area

of the paper as the paper is continuously passing between the drum and the screen.
